MAZ began to produce sorting trucks in the 90s, when cities began to grow and huge amounts of resources were required for construction. Today, the model range is represented by a wide range, which includes:

• Classic sorting trucks for transporting wood of medium and small length. A short base is the basis for good cross-country performance of models, and a powerful engine and a comfortable cabin allow you to transport wood over long distances.
• Sorting trucks with a rotary cone, functioning together with a trailer, allow you to transport a long forest, while maintaining good maneuverability. However, in the conditions of the city, such trucks do not behave in the best way, so it is recommended to limit transportation on them from the place of procurement to the warehouse.
• Semi-trailers are used in conjunction with a classic sorting truck for transporting timber, regardless of its length. Full trailers are operated according to their intended purpose, but the design features reduce their functionality in the matter of transporting a long tree.

Device

The large model range does not allow us to distinguish the general technical characteristics of sorting trucks, but the device of all models is extremely simple and is based on classic models of tractors.

So, for example, a conventional sorting truck is a tractor on which to mount a lattice body designed for fixing logs in a special way. The cargo is discharged by the manipulator.

Models with a rotary cone are equipped with a shortened base, to which the trailer is attached. As a result, a bundle is formed that allows you to securely hold a long forest. The rotary design is a necessity, because otherwise a long truck simply will not enter any turn.

Model range and technical characteristics

Many models of logging trucks are already outdated and are not being produced, because they have been replaced by modernized vehicles. However, the high-quality equipment has been working for decades, so even today the first logging trucks of the Minsk Automobile Plant are found on the roads.

• MAZ 509-The truck is equipped with a 200 hp diesel engine and can withstand loads of up to 10 tons. Comfortable driving is provided by a five-speed gearbox. The model has been discontinued, as it has undergone a complete modernization.
• MAZ 500 is a sorting truck designed to work in the conditions of the Far North. Its distinctive feature is in the insulated cabin, which has additional heating. There are special mounts on the roof for installing floodlights. "Heart" – 180 hp. The vehicle has a load capacity of 8 tons and develops a speed of up to 60 km / h.
• MAZ 6317 is a modern logging truck that began production in 1991 and still does not come off the assembly lines after several upgrades. The main changes affected the vehicle's engine, which today meets the Euro-3 standard, in addition, there are single models corresponding to Euro-4. The unit is equipped with a 420 hp diesel engine and has a load capacity of 13 to 27 tons in various versions. All cars use a 9-speed transmission. The maximum speed according to official documentation is 80 km / h.
• MAZ 630308 is one of the latest developments with a powerful engine of 400 "horses", a nine-speed gearbox and a load capacity of 15 tons. The uniqueness of the model lies in such design features as a hydraulic manipulator and supports, as well as the location of the mechanism in the middle of the frame.
